Support
Jaunt is a walking navigation app that guides you turn by turn and shares short audio stories about the places you pass.
We're glad you're here - below you'll find answers to common questions and how to reach us.
Contact us
Email is the best way to reach us. We're a small team and we read every message - you can expect a reply within two business days.
When writing about a problem, it helps to include your device model, iOS version, and roughly when the issue happened.
What do I need to get started?
Just the app and your headphones (or your phone's speaker). Pick a destination, start walking, and Jaunt will guide you with spoken directions. Along the way it may play short stories about buildings, streets, and neighborhoods you pass.
Jaunt needs location access while using the app to know where you are on your route, and an internet connection to plan routes and fetch stories.
Why don't I hear a story at every place?
That's by design. Jaunt only plays a story when there's comfortably enough quiet time before your next turn - a story will never talk over a navigation instruction. On routes with frequent turns you'll hear fewer stories; on longer straight stretches you'll hear more.
Jaunt also remembers what you've already heard, so walking past the same place again will bring you a different story when one is available.
I can't hear any audio
- Check your media volume and, on iPhone, the silent/ring switch.
- If you're on Bluetooth headphones, make sure they're connected to this phone.
- Make sure the Stories toggle is on in the navigation screen.
- If music is playing from another app, Jaunt lowers it while speaking and brings it back after - it never stops your music.
Still silent? Email us with your device model and we'll help.
My position looks wrong on the map
GPS can drift in dense city blocks, under scaffolding, or right after leaving a building or subway. Jaunt snaps your position to the route and usually recovers within a few steps.
If it doesn't, check that Location access is set to "While Using the App" with Precise Location on (Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Jaunt).
How does Jaunt affect my battery?
Like any turn-by-turn navigation app, Jaunt uses GPS and audio continuously during a walk, which uses more battery than idle use. For longer walks we recommend starting with a reasonable charge. Jaunt doesn't track your location when you're not using it.
Signing in and guest access
You can sign in with your email address or with Google. If you'd rather look around first, guest access lets you try Jaunt without creating an account. Signing in lets Jaunt remember which stories you've heard so you don't hear repeats.
Having trouble signing in? Email us and we'll sort it out.
How do I delete my account?
You can delete your account directly in the app: open your Profile and choose Delete Account. This removes your account and the data associated with it.
If you've already removed the app and can't do this in-app, email support@jaunt.app from the address you signed up with and we'll take care of it.
Something in a story or route looks wrong
We care a lot about getting places and their stories right. If a story mentions the wrong building, a route sends you somewhere odd, or anything else feels off, please tell us - a quick email with the street or place name is enough. These reports genuinely shape the product.
How is my data handled?
The short version: Jaunt uses your location to guide you while you're using the app, and keeps track of which stories you've heard so it can avoid repeats. We don't sell your personal data.
The full details are in our Privacy Policy at jaunt.app/privacy.
Feature requests
We'd love to hear what you want from Jaunt - new neighborhoods, new kinds of stories, anything. Send ideas to support@jaunt.app with "Idea" in the subject.
We can't promise every request makes it in, but every one gets read.
